I feel silly asking this and did do a search on google. But can this be played offline and have all the game modes minus the prizes etc?

vegas mode will probably be missing same with red pin stuff unless you have the offline 2009 security chip version.

On my 2007 you can still play Vegas mode, but I don't have anything connected to the internet. I'm not sure what the differences are between 2007 and 2009 but all my non-online features work fine.

I am looking at a 2009 Bowlers Club at a dealer for $450. That would be a bummer if I couldn't play all the modes offline. How expensive is it to convert it or what does it entail?

At the dealers unplug it from the internet and see if you can still play them, Case closed. I have the older version also and still play vegas, So one would assume you can on the club.

2009 does not do Vegas offline. 2007 does.

Are you just looking for how to tell if a Silver Strike is close to dead?

My SSB 2007 does not have Vegas enabled unless it's online (which will be never, it's in a home environmen). Only the original does and I haven't seen a kit for it for a reasonable price.

You may want to look into that, my 2007 is not online and Vegas mode is available (and pretty much all we play). I can see if there's maybe a setting or something to enable it.

Was there ever a home version of SSB 2007? Mine is the Bowlers Club version and Vegas cannot be enabled unless the game is registered with IT.

Odd... my SSB 2007 does have Vegas Bowling... but it's just regular bowling but it dishes up some cards. Nothing else. No red pin. You just get a card for every strike or spare... nothing more.
We use it as another excuse to drink... whoever loses the hand has to drink a beer.

Not that I am aware of...
Mine is Silver Strike Bowling 2007 Bowlers Club.... what sucks about it is that it sits at the SPRINT screen trying to connect for about 3 minutes before completing bootup. I can't figure out how to disable that.

Soon after I got the game almost 2 years ago I called IT and they told me that you can't skip or disable having the machine attempt to connect to the internet. Very annoying. So I used a WiFi ethernet adapter so I wouldn't have to wait that crazy amount of time.
Also, it's currently running version 1.00.22; I wonder if an older revision had offline Vegas. It's in the operator menus but there's no option for me to enable it.
I know the original had multiplayer Vegas (and for a while when I was playing it with buddies at a bowling alley that was the only way I could lose since I was miles better than everyone else). It makes me want the original version that much more, but the cheapest one I could find is still more than I paid for my entire 2007 kit.

Last year an original SSB kit was on KLOV and sat forever at like $225 shipped. What are you seeing them for? I would assume the original should be the cheapest.

Maybe my searching abilities were too limited; it was ebay. I got the 2007 kit complete including the PC (a Gen 1 Nighthawk that I since upgraded the CPU, GPU, and RAM on for 60fps all the time) for under $300. I'm pretty certain I'd need another kit to play the original version (CID, IO board, and good HDD with the SSB software; I don't need another PC).

I'll try to get out and take some screenshots... not sure what version I'm running...
Perhaps the difference is in the fact yours connects to something but can't find what it's looking for versus not being able to find anything to connect to? Might want to try to disable your wi-fi and boot up once to see if that option is suddenly available.
Just a thought.

This is what mine does too. I should clarify that I don't have the red pin either, just the cards.
