Best Birthday Restaurants in Los Angeles
From downtown to the coast, these are the best birthday restaurants in Los Angeles.
1. Du-par’s
Location: 6333 W 3rd St, Los Angeles, CA 90036
Du-par’s has been an LA staple since 1938!
It is located at the Original Farmer’s Market in LA and they are known for their hotcakes which are available 24/7.
We had to drop JP’s son off at the airport early in the morning, so we decided to make the most of our time out in LA and stopped in for breakfast.
I had been here once before with my roommates when I did the Disney College Program, but I have no idea what I ate.
This time we had to get the hotcakes and they are so good.
We thought we liked the pancakes we cook at home all the time, but these were a million times better.
Don’t just take our word for it though, they were voted the Best Pancakes in the US by Esquire Magazine.
2. Capri Club
Location: 4604 Eagle Rock Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90041
Capri Club is Eagle Rock’s Aperitivo Bar since 1963.
There are no reservations, walk-ins only with open seating.
Order at the bar and then pick a spot anywhere you’d like.
They offer a variety of cocktails for $15, shots for $6, and over a dozen food items for $5-$18 including bolognese, meatballs, salads, and more.
They are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Wednesday through Friday they open at 4 pm and Saturday through Sunday they open at 2 pm.
Friday and Saturday they stay open until midnight.
All other nights they close at 11 pm.
3. Next Door Lounge
Location: 1154 N Highland Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90038
If you’re looking for an adults only (21+) birthday celebration, then Next Door Lounge is for you.
They really go all out to celebrate birthdays with a birthday show that includes sparkling cakes and a confetti shower.
I highly recommend ordering a birthday cake to take part in the celebration.
It takes place on Friday and Saturday nights at 11 pm.
The link above has all the details about making your reservation and what to expect at the dinner, show, and dance experience.
I also recommend ordering a bottle of your favorite drink because they’ll do another celebration for the table.
If you’re more into cocktails, an old fashioned or a vodka tonic are a good choice.
They also have a variety of white and red wines to choose from.
For food, some great options are their sliders, bbq chicken flatbread, and fried cauliflower.
4. The Little Door
Location: 8164 W 3rd St, West Hollywood, CA 90048
The Little Door has offered farm to table dining since 1996.
They offer rustic Mediterranean and European cuisine in a romantic courtyard, with a worldly wine selection.
Reservations are required, with outdoor and indoor dining options.
There is a food minimum of $35 per person, so make sure you come hungry!
The Little Door is open for dinner daily.
Their dinner menu features dishes like prime ribeye steak, filet mignon, lamb, salmon, housemade pappardelle, and more.
5. Cobi’s
Location: 2104 Main St, Santa Monica, CA 90405
Cobi’s is a South East Asian restaurant in Santa Monica.
They do brunch and dinner with dishes like curry, stir fry, dumplings, and a raw bar.
They offer one of my all-time favorite meals, butter chicken.
For brunch they have Banh Mi sandwiches, shareables, congee, scotch eggs, and more.
6. Mother Wolf
Location: 1545 Wilcox Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90028
Mother Wolf is an upscale Italian restaurant in LA by chef Evan Funke.
They’ve been featured by pretty much every foodie outlet in the area.
Mother Wolf offers classic Roman cooking with dishes like wood fired pizzas, seasonal appetizers, and handmade pastas.
7. Yamashiro
Location: 1999 N Sycamore Ave, Hollywood, CA 90068
Yamashiro offers indoor and outdoor dining experiences every evening with an all new menu and specialty cocktail options.
If you didn’t already guess by the name, Yamashiro offers mostly Japanese dishes, but there some other signature items as well.
I recommend starting your dinner with a hot, green tea.
We visited on a cold, rainy day in the middle of Winter and this tea just hit the spot.
For appetizers, I recommend starting off with the pork bao buns.
The veggies and sauce really brighten up an otherwise dense and heavy appetizer.
For your meal, sushi lovers, this place is for you!
There are seemingly endless possibilities.
But if you want to try something different or if sushi isn’t really your thing, there are some hot dishes that are worth trying.
The Japanese A5 Wagyu Steak Garlic Noodles are a bit spicy, but still good overall.
The Crab Fried Rice also pairs well with these noodles.
As a side, I recommend adding the Miso Creamed Corn.
It’s a little spicier than I like, but other than that it is so good!
Now for the desserts!
Yamashiro has a few unique options.
The banana doughnuts are served with a chocolate dipping sauce and they reheat well in an air fryer if you need to take them home.
The Sticky Toffee Cake is also really good.
It’s a little denser than you’d expect, almost like a brownie or chocolate cake, but the combination of walnuts, toffee sauce, and crème fraiche is phenomenal.
Lastly, since we were celebrating during our visit, our server gifted us each a glass of champagne and we shared a small cheesecake for dessert.
They also offer Smash Cakes in milk chocolate, dark chocolate, pink, and red.
To really enhance the birthday celebration, you can get a heart cake with chocolate and candy filling for $70.
The views and the setting here really cannot be beat.
With the architecture you will really feel like you’ve been transported to Japan.
8. 71Above Restaurant and SkyLounge
Location: 633 W 5th St, Floor 71, Los Angeles, CA 90071
71Above is a new restaurant in the US Bank Tower in Downtown LA.
It’s the highest restaurant west of the Mississippi.
With the 360 degree views of this restaurant you can see all the way to Malibu and Laguna Hills.
Enjoy a meal at the bar, in the SkyLounge, or the main dining room, all with different vibes.
There is a dress code that does not permit hats, shorts, sweats, excessively ripped jeans, flip flops, beach attire, or athletic wear.
You also have to leave all large bags at coat check.
Jackets are not required for men, but they are suggested.
For now, reservations are required, except at the bar.
71Above features a 3 course dinner menu in the main dining room.
The menu items are listed from the lightest dishes to the heartiest dishes.
You can always add more courses if you like!
9. RYLA
Location: 1220 Hermosa Ave, Hermosa Beach, CA 90254
RYLA is open Monday through Friday for dinner, beginning at 5 pm.
On Saturdays and Sundays, they offer brunch from 10 am – 2 pm.
The lounge is open from 2 pm – 4 pm, and then of course dinner begins at 5 pm.
Ryla is just off the beach, near the Hermosa Beach Pier.
They have a cool cocktail list, with drinks around $16-$18.
Their produce is also handpicked by the chef and team from the Farmer’s Market weekly.
They have an eclectic menu with dishes like milk bread, croquettes, honeynut squash, snapper, cod, ramen, and more.
Everything has a twist though and isn’t just your generic dish.
10. Herb Alpert’s Vibrato Grill & Jazz
Location: 2930 Beverly Glen Circle, Los Angeles, CA 90077
Vibrato Grill is LA’s premiere live jazz and dining experience with contemporary American cuisine.
They post their live performance calendar on their website so you can plan ahead for your visit.
Some neat dishes include charcoal brioche lobster rolls, popcorn cauliflower, crab stuffed lobster, passion fruit creme brulee, baklava cheesecake, and more.
11. Cabra
Location: 1060 S Broadway, Los Angeles, CA 90015
Cabra is a rooftop restaurant and bar at The Hoxton in Downtown LA.
They offer Peruvian cuisine and are open 7 days a week for dinner + brunch on weekends.
This family-style dining is colorful and vibrant with shareable plates, cocktail menus, and a great wine list.
Here you can enjoy panoramic views of Downtown LA.
12. The Nice Guy
Location: 401 N La Cienega Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90048
The Nice Guy is open nightly from 6 pm – 2 am.
So this is the perfect birthday dinner spot if you’re looking for a late night celebration.
Especially on a weeknight.
The cocktail menu offers a bunch of the most popular cocktails, but with a twist.
The dining menu is made up of Italian dishes and I highly recommend the Rigatoni Vodka with Shrimp and the Fried Mozzarella appetizer.
